If you've fallen out of touch with the old gang as the years glide steadily by, occasionally one will come out of the woodwork in the most unusual of places. I recieved this email from a good friend the other day concerning an old friend of hers from back in the day:

Let me state for the record that there is NO WAY a woman who looks like this can ever be accused of RAPING a 16 year old "boy" (old enough to drive in most states and definitely old enough to know what he was getting his ass into). She may have God knows how many problems, but none of them are worth going to jail for. Oh well, the book/TV movie deal with smooth the road for Sandra "Beth" Geisel I am sure.

Ok, fine, maybe it might be legal for 17 year olds and 42 year olds to have sex. I will give you that. However, how about the shame she has brought on her own kids and husband, with her acts. That's not illegal, just morally wrong. Also, how about drunk driving. That is MOST CERTAINLY illegal. Also, Beth Geisel admitted on the day of her DWI arrest she was on her way to pick up her daughter. So here is a mom who thinks so little of herself and her kid as to have a blood alcohol level of .18 more than twice the legal limit, calling herself planning to drive with her daughter in the car when she is impaired like that? That is not only illegal, but shows extreme disregard for her kids and others on the road that she might have killed in an accident had she not been stopped.
Yeah guys, it's easy to describe this woman's actions as "cool" and "crazy" & it's also easy to get aroused by things like that, but change the scenario, put "YOUR" wife or "YOUR" mom in there and then see how it feels then? Then the tune changes and it's not so cool when it turns out to be YOUR mom or wife out there carrying on like some drunken two-bit whore.
What she did was selfish! She didn't stop to think about how her action would affect those closest to her, her own immediate family. How her actions would affect her own kids and husband, (which she took and oath to). The Geisel children are the REAL victims here. They are they biggest tragedy of this whole mess. They are the one who will probably never be able to live down the shame that their own "mom" has brought on them. Parents are supposed to protect their kids, not hurt them. "MOM" having sex with her son's classmates, and "MOM driving drunk to pick up her child with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit is by far, "MOM" hurting, not protecting her kids.
